MetaMask is an extension for the Ethereum browser

MetaMask enables users to view Ethereum in their browser, without having to leave their website. This extension allows users to conduct Ethereum transactions directly from their web browser.

How does it work?

The MetaMask extension incorporates Ethereum’s web3 API to any website’s Javascript context, meaning when you open a web page, the extension will be able to read the information stored in the blockchain. This information includes the Ethereum addresses of every wallet and the associated balances, the Ethereum address and balance of the contract address, the number of transactions that were performed, and more.

Signing up creates a wallet in MetaMask clients. Users can move tokens from one address to another, transfer funds, and withdraw money between wallets.
